Courtney Cone is a sculptor, painter, performer and video artist whose practice articulates experiences of trauma, horror and disgust through dark or irreverent humor. Cone’s current work explores the visceral ramifications of inhabiting a female "body" in the prison system with a focus on bodily orifices as sites of dehumanization.

Cone holds an MFA in Art from California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, CA (2017) and a BFA in Painting from Texas State University in San Marcos, TX (2015). She is a convicted felon and was incarcerated at the Crain Unit (Texas Department of Criminal Justice) from 2006-2009. Her work has been shown in Texas, California and included in a national exhibition at the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Lincoln, NE.

Cone resides in Austin, TX and is an adjunct faculty at Austin Community College and Texas State University.
