Courtney Cone is a sculptor, painter, performer and video artist whose interdisciplinary practice explores the wide-ranging ramifications inherent to being a female “body” in the prison system. Her black-humored works examine the links between horror, alienation, transformation and the abject female with a focus on bodily orifices.

Cone holds an MFA in Art from California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, CA and a BFA in Painting from Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. She is a convicted felon and was imprisoned in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice system from 2006-2009. Her work has been shown in Texas, California and included in a national exhibition at the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Lincoln, NE.
